TIM'S TEAM

SCROLL DOWN

TIM'S TEAM

Thank you for your interest in the
Timothy O'Connell Foundation.

Timothy O’Connell, in whose honor and loving memory the Foundation was established in 2008, courageously battled acute myeloid leukemia between May 2007 and his death on September 9, 2008, just two days after his tenth birthday.  His loving spirit and warm smile will always live with those who were lucky enough to know him.

From the very first days of Tim's diagnosis, family, friends, members of the Holliston, Massachusetts community, and others who were touched by Tim's strength and courage offered to make donations in tribute, ultimately resulting in the organization of the Foundation.  This website has been established to raise awareness of The Timothy O'Connell Foundation and its goals.

Since its organization, The Timothy O'Connell Foundation has granted over $465,000 in gifts to worthy cancer-related causes, and has awarded more than $40,000 in scholarships to students pursuing health-related fields of study.

in honor and loving memory of Timothy O'Connell.

The Foundation's goals are to fund research for cures for acute myeloid leukemia and other cancers affecting children, to provide scholarships and grants to those pursuing health-related studies, and, more generally, to provide financial assistance to charities devoted to the needs of pediatric cancer patients and their families. Since its inception,
the Foundation has granted more than $500,000 in gifts and scholarships to worthy recipients, including:

  • Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island
  • The Jimmy Fund / Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
  • Children's Hospital Boston

6th Annual Tim's Trot  |10.1.16

Thank you to all of our sponsors, volunteers and participants.
Together with about 825 Trotters, we raised more than $20,000 for the Foundation!

The rain and clouds did not dampen the spirit of the 6th Annual Trot!  Even in the drizzle, about 825 Trotters ran, walked, trotted, pushed strollers and walked dogs for the 1.9 mile distance.  Everyone was rewarded with a Trot
t-shirt, a Tim's Trot bag with goodies, water, apples and ice cream from Smitty's and Sundae School!

Your support of the Foundation helps support children with cancer and their families during illness and in bereavement.  Your dollars also help fund a research lab in Tim's name at the University of Minnesota,
Make-A-Wish of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and scholarships to Holliston residents who plan to study
in a healthcare field.

Thank you for your continued support!

If you have any questions, or if you are interested in Sponsorship Opportunities for 2017, please contact Joanne O’Connell at joanneoconnell@comcast.net or 508-662-7282.

Timmy Cake Sales September 10-11, 2016

September 10-11, 2016   |  Timmy Cake Sales

Thank you to all those who purchased one of the 300 cakes baked by Joanne and our incredible team of bakers and helpers. Special thanks to Charlie Jacobs and the Warren Center, Fr. Mark Coiro and St. Mary's Parish, and Tom Clarke and Clarke Kitchen Resource Center for their generous permission to use their respective facilities for our cake sale event!

The generosity of so many in Holliston and surrounding communities who give to The Timothy O’Connell Foundation by buying a cake at our September cake sale fundraiser, by running in Tim’s Trot, by supporting the Foundation’s Boston Marathon runners, and by volunteering their time for these and other events, has enabled the Foundation to make two major gifts again this year. The Foundation has now granted more than $75,000 to Make-A-Wish of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. We look forward to sponsoring more wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses.
